I have to say that I grew up with Andy Griffith….he was much like a member of the family. The Andy Griffith Show is like a comfortable old chair, or an accepting friend, always ready to provide a smile after a difficult day or to reinforce the belief that we need to take care of each other. The humor was honest and good spirited…..and although the charecters were zany and portayed with comic brilliance, they all revolved around Andy Griffith’s brilliance.

I regret that I never met Andy in person, although I feel that I know him from the many hours I spent with his most famous charecter.

To quote one of my favorite episodes:

“…..but don’t the trees seem nice and full.”

    Rest in peace Andy.

Thanks Ron for posting this. i think andy did this in 1953. i can remember hearing it on the radio when i was small and my dad just loved it. Andy was also great in the movie “no time for sargents” at about the same time.
