Who are James and Susan Blevins? I don’t know, but I can tell you where their garbage is. It’s strewn up and down Rt. 52 near Archer Road. A check of the phone book lists a James and Susan Blevins at 1096 Archer Road.
Folks, this has got to stop. The money for roadside clean-up was eliminated from the state budget this year. So the crap you throw out your window, or that blows off the back of your truck, or whatever will stay there. It’s disgusting. Not even an animal fouls its own nest, and Wythe County is our collective nest. A lot of this trash will end up in our waterways endangering the health and welfare of humans and animals alike. The glass bottles that are part of the Blevins’ roadside gift will remain in the environment FOREVER!
Not only is littering disgusting, it’s illegal and down right stupid. In the Blevins’ case, the envelopes with their names and address on them constitute prima facie evidence of guilt. There is also this little problem going around called identity theft. Ever hear of it?
So Mr. and Mrs. Blevins if you read this or if someone who knows you reads this, COME AND PICK UP YOUR DAMN TRASH. The Blevins’ phone number by-the-way, is (276)637-6145. Have a nice day.

I like the public shaming option. If we were only so lucky as to get a name and address on some of the trash dumped around here. With the advent of spring, we’ll see more horse trailers and campers around here (Mt Rogers Nat’l Recreation area), and we’ll see their trash. Since they’re not allowed to leave their trash at the transfer station (and I’m not sure they would if they could), they dump trash in the very forest that they’ve just enjoyed or along the road to and from the hiking/horse trails. I’m looking into possibilities for setting up an official Nat’l Forest campsite, with trashcans and pit toilets, on this side of the mountain. There’s one on the other side and the problem doesn’t seem as bad.
But I wish it could only be blamed on people who don’t live here. Some locals dump their trash in the forest. I also see locals — people who live within a mile of the “crime” — toss cans or bottles or McDonald’s gigantic cups out of the car window. Is it that hard to take it home and throw it away? Or make a 1 mile side trip to the transfer station if they don’t want it in their houses?

Perhaps it needs to be returned to their front yard.
Could’ve been an innocent mistake also. It’s the guy who intentionally throws a bottle out of his car (which I then proceed to run over and puncture a tire<<<really happened), that bothers me.
From looking through their trash in the pictures, maybe we should be more concerned about the large amounts of caffein apparently being ingested….
