From looking through their trash in the pictures, maybe we should be more concerned about the large amounts of caffein apparently being ingested....

Could've been an innocent mistake also. It's the guy who intentionally throws a bottle out of his car (which I then proceed to run over and puncture a tire<<<really happened), that bothers me.

I like the public shaming option. If we were only so lucky as to get a name and address on some of the trash dumped around here. With the advent of spring, we'll see more horse trailers and campers around here (Mt Rogers Nat'l Recreation area), and we'll see their trash. Since they're not allowed to leave their trash at the transfer station (and I'm not sure they would if they could), they dump trash in the very forest that they've just enjoyed or along the road to and from the hiking/horse trails. I'm looking into possibilities for setting up an official Nat'l Forest campsite, with trashcans and pit toilets, on this side of the mountain. There's one on the other side and the problem doesn't seem as bad.

But I wish it could only be blamed on people who don't live here. Some locals dump their trash in the forest. I also see locals -- people who live within a mile of the "crime" -- toss cans or bottles or McDonald's gigantic cups out of the car window. Is it that hard to take it home and throw it away? Or make a 1 mile side trip to the transfer station if they don't want it in their houses?
