
Do you know about the “LOT 24 PROJECT?” You should. Cellell Dalton and the Wythe County Board of Supervisors have committed 20 million of our tax dollars to this project. It is what’s known in the industry as a spec footprint. There is no tenant, not even the rumor of a tenant. All of this money is being spent in hopes of attracting another manufacturer to Progress Park with no guarantee that any business will ever use it. This has been tried in two neighboring counties and has not worked. Dalton and the Board knew of these other failures before they committed us to this monumental waste and they did it anyway. I wonder if this project is the reason Dalton sat on the application for the state education bond. The County can’t afford to take on additional debt because of this white elephant.
Folks, it’s time for Dalton to go.

Rumor I heard this morning is that Budweiser has broken ground for a plant next to Gatorade. Is this the same as lot 24? Further rumor is that they had looked at Carroll & Grayson also, but chose Wythe (being in Galax, I can understand why)

That rumor has been around for several years. I think if it were true, Dalton and the Board would hire a sky writer to let us know. Lot 24 is a different project. It is a footprint for a rail spur. A spur that has no customers.
