stupid is the new intelligent

August 8th, 2011 · 11 Comments · rants

I’m not sure of the exact date, but one night I went to sleep and awakened the next morning in a parallel universe. At least I thought it was a parallel universe because stupid people were in charge. Things like science, knowledge and actual facts had no more importance than some batshit crazy’s opinion. If anything, they meant less. Surely I was dreaming, but when I pinched myself, I realized this was no dream. It was a nightmare. And it was real. Last week those stupid fuckers who pass for our political leaders drove us off a cliff.

For the first time in history, the United States no longer has a Triple A credit rating. The insecurity that has exploded throughout the world financial markets is a disaster. No one knows where we’re headed because we’ve never been here before. To think that we can just cut spending without raising revenue is insane. If you think things are bad now, just wait a few months.

Who is to blame? All of us are because we elected these bastards.

President Obama and the Democrats are stupid because they thought they could negotiate with the other side in good faith. Obama figured that everyone wants a bipartisan agreement with a balanced approach that would begin to fix the mess the previous administration has gotten us into. I’m sure he looked forward to facing the cameras with John “Boo Hoo” Boehner and Harry Reid at his side for a comforting kumbaya moment that showed that yes, Virginia, we can all get along. Geezus, how stupid can he be?

The day after the presidential election, Obama’s opponents began working to ensure his administration would fail. And fail it has. Obama squandered all the political capital he had because he wanted everyone to like him. Memo to the President: You brought a knife to a gunfight. These people hate your guts, and if you think trying to out-Republican the Republicans by abandoning the promises you made to those who voted for you is going to work, you’re delusional. The so-called compromise you signed last week was no compromise. You just bent over and grabbed your ankles.

The Republicans and their sixty member Tea Bagging caucus are beyond stupid. Their political posturing created a false “emergency” that has put the economic security of every single American at risk just to prove who has the biggest dick. Have a mortgage, credit card, car or student loan? You’re fucked. Interest rates are going to rise. Unemployed, on Social Security, need Medicare or Medicaid, or have a retirement account? Good damn luck. The safety net is now on the chopping block. This new super committee that will decide how the government will spend our money can now start chopping entitlement programs. This doesn’t apply to members of Congress, naturally. All they have to do is serve one term and they have a generous guaranteed retirement that includes free medical insurance.

Bye the way, Social Security is NOT an entitlement. It’s a goddamn CONTRACT made between the federal government and every person who has paid into it. But hey, contracts no longer mean jack as far as these assholes are concerned. Unless, of course, the contract means that corporations and the richest 1% pay no taxes, or we continue to pay 4,000,000,000.00 dollars annually in subsidies to the oil companies. Oh, in case you were wondering, EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF CONGRESS is in that 1%. Our carpetbagging congressman Morgan Griffith voted against the “compromise” because he didn’t think it went far enough.

Where do we go from here? Beats the shit out of me.

No, Bill Clinton wanted everyone to like him. Obama has faced much more resistant right-wingers. The only way he could get anything done was to compromise.

  • jpdb

Obama has had a hell of a time with the idiot Republicans ….the Bible Belt is full of them. I agree with everything you have said. 100% this time.

    CUTS……
How about the Education Dept, we have the state ed dept why do we need Federal?
How about the Commerse Dept., heard from them lately?
How about nixing Ethanol subsities-it’s PROVEN it takes MORE energy to refine the stuff than the benefits.
How about cutting ALL foreign aid, they hate us anyway & these tribes have never know democracy & why should be have to do NATION BUILDING when they don’t want it? I’ll send a loaf of bread but NO $$$$, as it never goes to those in need anyway!
How about bringing ALL our troops home. Let the sand jockeys have their sandpiles. We could fortify our boarders, build an aquaduct from the Missippi to the west for water for agriculture and rebuild OUR NATION.
GET RID OF THE DEPT. OF ENERGY, pronto.
As for jpdb:seems any politician is headed for idiocy once elected. Hope to see you at the BOS meeting tonite8/9 @7 so you can partake in govt & make a difference.

    Speaking of Govt…….
Wythe Town Ordinance: if you want to put a sign up in your yard you have to go to the Building DEpt., get a form fill it out & get the town manager to approve it. Election sign, garage sign, ANY sign. Town clerk said it’s been on the books for 15 yrs or so.
Was there a BIG sign problem hereabouts 15 yrs. ago or did they just decide to have Sign Police. Did somebody’s cousin need a job?
Rules, rules, govt., govt. toooooooo much!

Ron-I am so amazed at you poor grasp of the facts that I will just respond in the following manner-and notice that I didn’t use any profanity.

I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.

I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

I voted Democrat because Freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

I voted Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in 300 years if I don’t start driving a Prius.

I voted Democrat because I’m not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies through abortion so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.

I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the democrats see fit.

I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up to my neck in the ground that it is unlikely that I’ll ever have another point of view or even check the facts.

    Daryl,

    Pot… meet kettle…

    Drew

  • Leanne

Daryl, Where did you cut and paste that drivel from? Come back when you want to actually discuss the issues that Ron brought up.

  • Daryl

Ok Leanne-Let’s take Ron points on one at a time with actual facts vs. the vitriol that Ron used.

1)“For the first time in history, the United States no longer has a Triple A credit rating.”

Only S&P has downgradesd US credit Rating-Moody’s and Fitch have yet to do so but they will unless we get our debt under control.

2)“The insecurity that has exploded throughout the world financial markets is a disaster. No one knows where we’re headed because we’ve never been here before. To think that we can just cut spending without raising revenue is insane.”

We do not need to raise taxes-we need to cut spending. If the so-called rich ($200,000= a year) were taxed at the rates proposed by his Flatulence, President BO we would still only raise about $400 billion extra a year.
Our current deficit for the year is running at 1.5 trillion. Raising taxes wouldn’t even get us close and would hinder job creation-something that is probably wanted by his Flatulence, President BO, but not most Americans.

    3) “President Obama and the Democrats are stupid because they thought they could negotiate with the other side in good faith.”

You are kidding me-right. His Flatulence, President BO, has never submitted a plan or a budget since October 2009. On July 26, in many news outlets, it was revealed the Oboobi’s adminstration was privately reassuring banks that regardless of whether the debt ceiling is raised, the U.S. had no intention to default on its obligations. Good faith yeah right.

    4) “Obama’s opponents began working to ensure his administration would fail. And fail it has.
It hasn’t failed at what it intended. It has passed Obama Care (opposed by 70% of Americans, another discussion), his stimulus which mostly funneled money into state governments (and he even laughing conceded that there were very little of his B.S. shovel ready jobs) to pay unionized government workers and launder that money into Democratic campaign coffers. He couldn’t get Cap and Tax passed so he has had the EPA create hundreds of new regulations (ie unlegislated laws) to end run the will of the people and further stifle business (ie jobs)

    5) “The Republicans and their sixty member Tea Bagging caucus are beyond stupid. Their political posturing created a false “emergency” that has put the economic security of every single American at risk”

Another line of BS. As above, on July 26, in many news outlets, it was revealed the Oboobi adminstration was privately reassuring banks that regardless of whether the debt ceiling is raised, the U.S. had no intention to default on its obligations. His Flatulence, President BO and his democrat cohorts created the crises 1st by not presenting a budget since 2009. His Flatulence, President BO’s yearly deficit is 1.5 trillion vs GWB’s of 4.4 billion. So who created the crises the Republicans or His Flatulence, President BO.

6)” Unemployed, on Social Security, need Medicare or Medicaid, or have a retirement account? Good damn luck. The safety net is now on the chopping block.”

Inevitable- The Conservatives have never proposed legislation that will affect anyone on SS or Medicare over the age of 55. And how long are we supposed to keep people on unemployment? SS and Medicare were supposed to be “lockbox” programs and have been raided for years by both parties, shown to be on a course for insolvency, but Conservatives have been trying to get a handle on them for decades and have been thwarted every time by leftwing Democrats and so-called moderate Republicans.

7)” Unless, of course, the contract means that corporations and the richest 1% pay no taxes, or we continue to pay 4,000,000,000.00 dollars annually in subsidies to the oil companies.”

Another line of illiterate, class warfare BS. US oil companies pay the same corporate and payroll taxes that other companies do. Their revenues include a total profit of about 5% net while the US government makes a 15% profit from them on each gallon of gas.

The richest 5% pay 50% of taxes and the top 20% pay 80% of taxes. Squeezing anymore will continue the erasing of jobs, as our fearless leader His Flatulence, President BO hopes will happen so that he can turn the US into lefties supposed Socialist Utopia.
Is that enough for you for you Leanne and Ron. I doubt it because facts just do not matter to libs.

  • Linda meyer

    Go Daryl!!!!!!

  • Anne

I’d like to recommend that people check the facts at sites such as factcheck.org and politifact.org. For example, GW Bush left office with a $1.2 trillion deficit, not the $4.4 billion cited above. To say different shows a lack of understanding of how the federal budget system works. The Fed fiscal year runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30 of the next year, which means an incoming president must live with the outgoing president’s budget for most of his (or her someday) first year. Bush’s last budget presented a $1.2 trillion deficit.

Please check facts and different points of view as we go into the next election cycle. This will be one of the most important elections we face.

  • Dennis

Daryl, you used factual data and hit the nail on the head. I noticed no more rebutal from the left. Basicically it comes down to individual responsibilty and smaller government, not big over reaching government and collectivism.
