It was snowing in Heidelberg, Germany, 42 years ago on this date. Somewhere around 4:45am, our daughter Beth was born by Caesarian Section after Anne had spent some 40 hours in labor.

I know I’ve been away for over a month and a half. Lots of stuff has been going on, and I’ll tell you about some of it in the coming days. But, I couldn’t let today pass without acknowledging that today was a big deal in our family for a very long time. Today was a day of celebration. It is now a day of remembrance. It’s been almost three years since we lost Beth, and I miss her every day.
